Smith Wigglesworth's (1947) prophecy concerning the coming move of the Holy Spirit.
God Says, "The Winds of Change Are Coming on a Global Scale
Recently, a friend of mine sent this communiqué to thousands of church leaders around the world:
"In 1998, Hurricane Mitch wrecked havoc across Central America, especially in Honduras. Thousands of people perished, were injured and many missing. The infrastructure of roads was decimated and 150 bridges were destroyed or damaged. The Choluteca Bridge, built by Japanese engineers and donated to the Hondurans, was the most modern bridge in the region and it remained intact. While it was not damaged, the bridge was no longer necessary because the hurricane changed the flow of the river that once ran beneath it. A bridge typically spans a body of water and connects two pieces of dry land. When the water beneath it no longer flows, you can hardly call it a bridge. Without water, a bridge has lost its purpose. It is simply a monument to a past feat of engineering but it has no current relevance."
In the Church today the Winds of Change are blowing, and this wind of Heaven will alter the course of cultures and ministries. God's wind is now blowing, and what is not based on His foundational reality will become a relic of the past. Several months ago the Lord revealed a prophetic picture to me. I saw a vast plain that was covered with sand. As a wind began to blow, the sand was pushed away to reveal a large foundation underneath. The foundation was Christ Himself infused with the ministry gifts He will use to transform the earth. I realized that the covering of sand was very shallow—just enough to obscure what lay beneath. This foundational truth will not be discovered by human intellect but be revealed by the breath of God's Spirit.
For the last several months people have come to me after some of our church gatherings to tell me they have been feeling a wind blowing against them during our times of worship. These people were not sitting near air conditioning vents. No one walked past them and stirred the air. There was no natural explanation for the wind. At a recent conference in Africa, a wind could be felt so strongly that several people were literally blown backwards off their feet during worship. The wind of Heaven is blowing on the Church.
Prophetic Word of the Lord: Winds of Change Are Coming
While I was still in Africa, between meetings, the Lord impressed upon me the following word:
"Winds of Change are coming on a global scale—no longer to be viewed in a local context. When the Winds of Change blow in your meetings, the source of the wind will not have its origin from a specific geographic location, but will come from My very breath in Heaven. I am blowing a new wind from My throne upon the earth, and as it strikes the earth it will disperse in all directions to touch all nations.
"There is a shift taking place. This shift will realign those hearing My voice to prophesy in the direction of My coming changes. You will at first appear to be speaking into nothing, into the lesser places—to unrecognized locations, but this is part of the shift I will bring.
"This Wind of Change will stir into existence new ministries and uncover new giftings in My people. The wind will blow away the layer of dust that lies atop My foundation. Clarity will come as the wind blows.
"It will appear that an old foundation has been revealed. It is neither old nor new. My revelation is from timeless eternity. As the wind blows you will begin to understand what these last years have been about. I have not given you a full understanding of this last season because understanding is not what you have needed. I have covered what I am about to reveal until this time.
"These things will not be discovered with the mind. I will reveal these things to you by the breath of My Spirit. I have allowed this foundation to be covered, not to hide it, but to give it time to become seasoned and strong.
"Hear Me, Church. My Wind is blowing. A shift is taking place. You are about to see the effects of My breath upon the earth. Just as I breathed life into Adam, and just as I breathed life into the Church at her birth, I am about to breathe a new thing upon you. My Winds of Change are coming."

Two Winds Coming to the Church
This word is not from a "major prophet" with a big name. David Minor was (simply) a youth or associate pastor from Longview Wa. and that prophetic word was circulated humbly typed and then recopied. I believe that this 22-year-old word is speaking to us in this season. God is again speaking to His prophets about the winds. I believe these winds are beginning to come upon us; we would be wise to turn our face into the wind.
Because of a lack of understanding, some of My people will try to find shelter from the wind, but in so doing, they shall miss My work. For this wind has been sent to blow through every institution that has been raised in My Name. In those institutions that have substituted their name for Mine, they shall fall by the impact of My wind. Those institutions shall fall like cardboard shacks in a gale. Ministries that have not walked in up-righteousness before Me shall be broken and fall.
This is My Wind.
For this reason, man will be tempted to brand this as a work of Satan, but do not be misled. This is My Wind. I cannot tolerate My church in its present form, nor will I tolerate it. Ministries and organizations will shake and fall in the face of this wind and even some will seek to hide from that wind. They shall not escape. It shall blow against your lives and all around you will appear crumbling and so it shall.
But never forget, this is MY WIND, says the Lord. With tornado force it will come and appear to leave devastation, but the word of the Lord comes and says, “Turn your face into the wind and let it blow, for only that which is not of Me shall be devastated.” You must see this as necessary.
A second wind.
Be not dismayed for after this, My wind shall blow again. Have you not read how My breath blew on the valley of dry bones? So it shall breathe on you. This wind will come in equal force as the first wind. This wind too will have a name. It shall be called “The Kingdom of God”.
It shall bring government and order. Along with that, it shall bring My power. The supernatural shall come in that wind. The world will laugh at you because of the devastation of the first wind, but they will laugh no more. For this wind will come with force and power that will produce the miraculous among My people and the fear of God shall fall on the nation. My people will be willing in the day of My power says the Lord. In the first wind that is upon you now, I shall blow out pride, lust, greed, competition and jealousy and you will feel devastated, but haven’t you read “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven?” So out of your poverty of spirit, I will establish My kingdom. Have you not read the
Know this also, there will be those who will seek to hide from this present wind and they will try to flow in the second wind. But again they will be blown away by it. Only those who have turned their faces into the present wind shall be allowed to be propelled by the second wind.
You have longed for revival and a return of the miraculous and the supernatural. You and your generation shall see it, but it shall only come by My process says the Lord. The church of this nation cannot contain My power in its present form. But as it turns to the wind of Holiness unto the Lord, it shall be purged and changed to contain my Glory. This is the judgment that has begun to the house of God, but it is not the end. When the second wind has come and brought in My harvest, then the end shall come.

Two Winds Blowing Against the Church
I believe the first wind has been upon us for some time and is now increasing to a gale. The second is being released even in these days.
No one presumed to spell out precisely what the Lord meant to purge from us - though I suppose most of us thought we had some pretty good ideas - and not knowing was probably the Lord's wisdom at the time. But now that the intensity of it is upon us, I think it would be wise of us to identify at least some of the areas of purging, lest we hang on to what the Lord would shake, and suffer needlessly in the process.
Of course, the obvious is He is purging our character. We who minister inner healing have latched on to this prophecy with great gratitude - "At last! It's our time; no longer lonely scouts out ahead, trying to get an unwilling Church to listen, struggling to break through denial systems, but riding the very crest of what God is doing as He prepares His Church for the end time." This is true; more and more within the Church are waking up to the tasks of sanctification and transformation.
But the wind of purification of character only begins with the inner man. God also wants to strip us of pride and ambition, of fleshy zealousness and dead works. the hot desert winds of the Spirit are to burn away whatever in us would first respond to our needs, or great causes, or visions of service, or grandeur of doing something great for the Lord (see Jer 23, Ezek 13, Heb 6:1, and Jas 4:1-6). We are to be moved first by the present prompting of the Holy Spirit, from which flows our concern for needs, causes, visions, and take into submission our fleshly desires and ambitions to serve. God is crashing many servants and ministries against stone walls - frustration galore - to break and to make humble. The word? Let Him smash hopes and crush you. Stop deifying your struggles as being "opposed by the Devil because we're doing a great work," and let humiliation and frustration write into your heart the lessons of death to self the Lord intends. Only the dead shall rise to stand in the second wind (Gal 2:20 and 5:24).
God wants to resurrect a dogged steadfastness from the ashes of our burning. He wants a people upon whom He can depend, who will not grow weary of well-doing- which translates to constant, daily, momentary death of self to do only His will. He wants a people who will not stop to congratulate themselves because they're doing pretty well, and then let down to do their own thing. He wants dead soldiers who know their only life is to live His character, no matter what the cost. the Lord has allowed me to share only the smallest fraction of His grief over the many whose character is flaccid, whose lack of morality drives more nails in His hands, whose emotions are undisciplined and self-indulgent. However, the little He has let me carry has almost crushed my heart with His grief. God wants a people who utterly refuse to disgrace His name (see Prov. 23:15,16, 24-28). His purging is His search to find those who will stand and not disgrace the second wind.
The first wind is to purge us from spiritual hubris, that pride of caste that claims our church has more truth than any other. More and more, as the second wind increases, the Father wants to answer His Son's prayer in John 17 for unity, until we move from the unity of the Spirit (Eph 4:3) to the unity of the faith (vs.13).God wants His first wind to blow down every dividing wall until- even if we are sure our doctrines are more right than our brother's-we know all the way through our hearts that love and mercy call us to work hand in hand, unafraid of defilement, sure of God's will for unity. The judgement will be simple: for those whose love id for pharisaic "rightness" more than for the Lord and His people be wont even know there is a second wind, much less join in the happy chorus of the thousands who shall enjoy what God is doing. They will denounce the glorious banquet God will be serving as garbage, even as some do now.
The howl of the gale is now sounding the cry of God's Spirit for repentance and reconciliation. Right now the second wind has begun. The Lord Jesus Himself is coming back to His Church, recalling His people to first love. In all my years since being Spirit-baptised in 1958, I have never been so filled with love from and to the Lord. His love floods over me-in quiet times, worship services, times of ministry, in unlooked for moments, like just driving down the street, or standing in the shower, or between bites at the table. The result has been indescribable blessing-but also I have never before walked continually under such a sense of unworthiness and sinfulness-I understand why Peter cried out, "Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord" (Luke 5:8). When we act on our own, even when trying to repent and working to bring reconciliation, these are nothing but dead works, leading only to the pride of striving. However, reconciliation and repentance happen naturally and easily when God's love overflows the heart.
The heart wafted by the second wind hungers for reconciliation-between self and others, individuals, groups, tribes and nations. It drifts naturally into intercession, mediation and forgiveness. Jesus' love has become so precious one can't stand any unforgiveness that might block its renewing flow.
The wind of purification can only complete it's work as the wind of His love makes it possible. But those who have not set their sails to catch the wind of His purification won't catch the wind of His fullness.
Finally, to many of us the combination of the two winds has been revealing we have thought we were Spirit-filled when in truth we've only contained a trickle! We've used that term "Holy Spirit filled" for so long we've too often come to believe what we've said. An earlier saint of this century, Rufus Mosely, used to say in his country vernacular, "He who thinks he's arrived ain't likely t' git there." I've come to see there is so much more to being filled with His Spirit than we've had any inkling of. The coming fullness of the second wind is for that purpose, to fill the Church. We shall see the Shekinah glory return upon the Church (see Isaiah 4:2-6). We shall see the baptism of fire as in Acts 2- and, in the light of the wind of purification, see Malachi 3:1-7 and 4:1-3, as well.
But I believe we must all come to see there is a difference between believing on and about the Lord Jesus, as opposed to being "in Christ." Being in Christ is the consummation of the first wind that leads into the second. Being in Christ requires death to all that we are. It's one thing to have Christ in you-it's entirely another for us to be in Christ. Ponder this, friends. It is the gate in the road where the second wind will flow more and more. And what a blessing it will be-and already is.
